I was recently at a birthday party for a gentleman turning 77. He came to Toronto in 1960 and remembers it as an inward-looking, somewhat provincial town. He reminisced about the Sunday “blue laws” that forbade many forms of entertainment and compressed the weekend’s shopping into a frantic one-day window. The talk then turned to Toronto’s current rich diversity, and some of the new crop of restaurants. How things have changed for the better!
