Teddington Park formed the northern boundary of the City of Toronto in 1912. That same year, separate plans of subdivision were registered by two prominent Toronto businessmen: Nicholas Garland and Robert Dack. These plans led to the eventual building of homes in Teddington Park.

Teddington Park's development as a high-end residential district was inspired by the Rosedale Golf Club, which had moved from Rosedale to the Teddington Park area in 1909.

Teddington Park's older houses on Riverview Drive were originally given descriptive names such as 'Donnybrook', 'Silverwood', and 'Treetops'. These names were in lieu of municipal addresses, which were not issued until some time after the houses were built. Some of these houses still display their historical names.

The Teddington Park neighbourhood is one of the smallest and most exclusive districts in Toronto. Over the years many important and influential Torontonians have called this neighbourhood their home.

Teddington Park is located east of Yonge Street, above Lawrence Avenue. It is between the Lawrence and York Mills subway stations. Its borders are Glen Echo Road on the north, Golfdale Road on the south, and the Rosedale Golf Club to the east.  This natural barrier makes the neighbourhood both small in size, and very desirable.

Teddington Park is served by Bedford Park Junior Public School, and Lawrence Park Collegiate InstituteBlessed Sacrament Catholic School is across Yonge Street at 24 Bedford Park Avenue.  Nearby private schools include The Toronto French School and Crescent School. York University’s Glendon Campus is on the opposite side of Bayview, at Lawrence Avenue East.

The Rosedale Golf Club, at 1901 Mt Pleasant Road, forms the eastern boundary of Teddington Park. Since its founding in 1893, it has offered premier golf to its members and guests.  For those in search of a good game of tennis, The Valley Tennis Club is located at 3266 Yonge Street, at the corner of Yonge Street and York Mills Avenue.  The Granite Club, at 2350 Bayview Avenue, offers tennis and squash courts, two indoor pools, skating and curling rinks, and a winter golf dome.  The Bedford Park Community Centre, at 81 Ranleigh Avenue, has a gym and an indoor pool.

Teddington Park’s shopping district is along Yonge Street and Lawrence Avenue.  Small storefronts create a prevalence of specialty boutiques, as opposed to “big box” stores.  Inside, the visitor will find everything from comic books to jewellery to antique lamps, as well as cafés and restaurants for after-shopping refreshment.

Combining proximity to downtown and a country-like setting, Teddington Park remains one of the best neighbourhoods Toronto has to offer.
